Obituary of Phyllis Patricia Kelley
Phyllis Patricia Kelley, 79, of Cheat Lake, died Monday, January 15, 2018, at Sundale Nursing Home after a brief battle from cancer.
She was born November 14, 1938, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Philip Beck and Muriel Gibson Beck.
She was employed most of her life in child care. Her work as a teaching assistant spanned from Spruce Street United Methodist Church followed by Valley Day Care Center, and then Morgantown Early Learning Facility, from the time of its inception. At ELF, she taught art and was a bookkeeper. She retired from ELF approximately nine years ago.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shari and James (Jamie) Austin of Cheat Lake, and two sisters, Mary Louise Nicholson of Summers School Road, Morgantown, and Sandra Beck of Morgantown Unity Manor. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her, and those surviving are: Jennifer Kelley, April Brown, Kristen and Frank Boyce, Ross Justice, Cory Austin, Hailey Daft, Namonti Little, Glenn Brown, Jr., Savannah Brown, Charlie Brown, and Riley Boyce.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Kelley, her son, James D. Kelley II, her sister, Alice Beck, and her granddaughters, Ashley Marie Kelley and Taylor Beth Kelley.
The family would like to thank those who took care of Phyllis at Sundale Nursing Home and WV Caring. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life service which will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Masontown, WV, at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2018.
