Obituary of Blaine Dodrill Gross
Blaine D. Gross, 88, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, January 19th at his residence. He was born December 5, 1929 in Booth, WV, a son of the late Norva Stanley and Zela Matilda (Dodrill) Gross.
He was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church and was a US Navy veteran during the Korean Conflict. He retired from C&P Telephone Company and was handy with woodworking and masonry and all other forms of home remodeling. He and his wife travelled both internationally and domestically and he greatly enjoyed camping and WVU football games. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janet A. Gross and children, Karen Fitzpatrick and her husband, David of Morgantown, B. Jeffrey Gross and his wife, Elizabeth Williamson, of Essex, VT, and Diane Gross of Denmark, and dear friend, Suzy Joe Viera of Steubenville, OH. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his siblings, Ruth Sams, G. Richard Gross, F. Wayne Gross, Helen V. Shope, Dorotha Mae Wiley, N. Stanley Gross, Jr., and Lenora Pill.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Tuesday, January 23rd from 3-7 PM. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 6:30 PM in the funeral home to conclude the evening visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 3334B University Ave., Morgantown on Wednesday, January 24th at 11 AM with Father John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery.
