Obituary of Ann Marie Sausen
Ann M. (Kubik) Sausen, 89, of Morgantown, West Virginia died Saturday, February 17th, 2018 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 13, 1928 in St. Paul, Minnesota, daughter of the Frank Kubik and Anna Marie (Schejbal) Kubik. Both parents were born in Czechoslovakia.
She was a 1946 graduate of Monroe High School in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She was married to Robert Sausen September 9, 1950 at St. James Catholic Church in Saint Paul, MN. She had been a member of the Czechoslovak Society of America.
In 1958, she and her family moved to Morgantown, West Virginia, as her husband became a faculty member of the West Virginia University School of Dentistry. She served as President of the Apollonian Dental Auxiliary and President of the Monongalia Dental Auxiliary.
She became and assistant leader of Girl Scout Troop 4548 and a Cub Scout Den Leader in Cub Scout Pack 60 in Morgantown. She was a lifetime member of the Scouting Heritage Society of the Mountaineer Area Boy Scout Council as a James E. West Fellow and served many years at the annual “Ox Roast” dinner at Camp Mountaineer. She also served the community in the Morgantown Area Meals on Wheels for many years. She was a lifetime member of Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Community in Star City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sausen, of 66 years. They are survived by three daughters, Diane Sausen of Birmingham, Alabama; Carol Sausen of Morgantown, WV; and Linda and John Gasper of Indianapolis, Indiana; three sons and spouses, John and Anne Sausen, Richard and Dottie Sausen and Robert J. and RaDell Sausen of Morgantown, West Virginia; and one sister, Millie Eckhardt of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She had eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Tuesday, February 20th from 2-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 3334B University Ave., Morgantown, on Wednesday, February 21st at 12 PM with Father John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
