Obituary of John Stephen Sturm
John Stephen Sturm, age 70, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2018, at Assisted Living at Evergreen. He was a special guy who was cared for by many people.
He was born on May 23rd 1947 in Clarksburg, WV.
Steve was a 1965 graduate of Morgantown High School and held degrees in psychology and a Masters in Labor Relations from WVU. For many years, Steve worked variously for CF&I Steel in Pueblo, Colorado, and later for Anheuser Bush in Columbus, Ohio.
After his years with national companies, Steve became an owner of a used book store in small-town America. Subsequent to this, he spent some years traveling and working internationally. Among other places, he lived in Paraguay, South America, Slovakia, Europe, and both Japan and China, Asia teaching English to citizens of those countries. Some of his travels were with the Peace Corp.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Barbara Sturm; by his beloved children, Detrick and Melanie Sturm; and his sister, Susan Ann Sturm Tabron.
Surviving are a brother, Michael Sturm and wife Samata Taylor Sturm, nephews, Beau Sturm, Robert Tabron; and niece, Judith Tabron. Also surviving are many special friends locally and around the country.
Special thanks to Evergreen which has been very thoughtful in Steve’s care.
In accordance with his wishes, Hastings Funeral Home/Omega Crematory will be providing cremation services. Inurnment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date.
