Obituary of Carol Lynn Farnsworth Fusco

Please share a memory of Carol Lynn Farnsworth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carol Lynn "Carrie" Farnsworth Fusco, mother, grandmother, registered nurse, and breast-cancer survivor passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, at her home in Morgantown, West Virginia, on April 30, 2018. She was 70 years old and  spent her life being there for everyone and anyone who needed her.

Carrie was born on May 12, 1947, in Martinsburg, West Virginia, to the late Carl and Margaret Smith Farnsworth. She grew up in Park Ridge, New Jersey, and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Virginia University School of Nursing and remained in Morgantown after graduation. Carrie began her wide-ranging nursing career as a psychiatric nurse in the early 1970s, moving on to teach childbirth classes and then work as an obstetrics nurse at Mon General Hospital. Later in her career, she transitioned to working as a home-health and hospice nurse where she enjoyed traveling to local and rural areas to care for the sick and terminally ill. She was valued by her colleagues for her wisdom and her willingness to do anything to help her team. Carrie also would always go the extra mile to lend a helping hand or an ear to listen in the care of her patients, many of whom requested her by name. She extended this same compassion to her family, friends, and strangers alike throughout her life. Her sons, in particular, will forever cherish the unconditional love, guidance, and friendship she provided. Carrie’s three sons and five grandsons were the world to her and she enjoyed spending time with them more than anything. She also enjoyed painting, reading, doll collecting, and rescuing animals that needed a loving home. She is loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Carrie is survived by her son Matthew and his wife, Carriedelle, and their dogs Heidi and Ruby Mae of Asheville, North Carolina; her son Geoffrey and his wife, Marcie, their sons Porter, Garritt, and Dawson, and their dog Benson of Scottsdale, Arizona; and her son David and his wife, Nicole, their sons Levi and Brady, and their dog Ripley and cat Snickers of McMurray, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her sister Gail Farnsworth Whittemore; her stepmother, Norma Ann Farnsworth; her stepbrother Kenneth Morgan and his wife, Janie; her stepbrother Stephen Morgan and his wife, Annie; and her stepbrother Alan Morgan. She is further survived by her ex-husband Andrew Fusco and his wife, Deborah, and the extended Fusco family with whom she remained close. Carrie is also survived by her beloved dog, Tori, who was her companion in everything.

In accordance with her wishes, cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home, Omega Crematory.

Family and friends will be received at St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, on Sunday, May 6, 2018, from 4 - 6 PM. A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018, at 11 AM with Father Carlos J. Melocoton as Celebrant.
