Obituary of Debra Louise Lattanzi

Please share a memory of Debra Louise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Debra  L. Lattanzi, 60, of Morgantown, passed away at her family home June 1, 2018.  The oldest of three daughters, Debbie was born March 22, 1958.  Debbie was Catholic by faith and attended St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.

She graduated from Morgantown High  School and  West Virginia University with both a Bachelors and Masters of Arts in elementary education.  Debbie was very service oriented.  As a student at WVU she was a member of Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity, where she met fellow students who would become her life- long friends.   After graduating from college, Debbie began her 33 year teaching career at Jakes Run, before moving on to Jerome Park, Easton, and finally 17 years at North Elementary.  As a kindergarten teacher, Debbie laid the foundation that would help shape the lives of her students.

Debbie was a very kind and caring person, always thinking of others. She was a very devoted daughter, loving sister & loyal friend. She has left a legacy and trail of kindness that will show up in many places.  The depth of her thoughtfulness and generosity will live on in things that we were unaware of.  Her humility and humbleness were her most endearing qualities.  Her faith was unwavering and she endured, encouraged and stood strong right up to her last days on earth. She did not lose  to cancer, she was victorious in her fight and won the ultimate prize, a place in Heaven.

Debbie was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa teacher honorary and Catholic Daughters.

Debbie is survived by her, mother, Donna Lattanzi, her two sisters and brother-in-law, Julie Lattanzi, Jamie and  Burley Johnson.  Additionally surviving are a very special aunt and uncle, Thomas and Ann Basferd; her aunt Betty Lattanzi and several cousins.
