Obituary of Leonard Neal Taylor

Leonard N. Taylor of Morgantown passed peacefully into the presence of God, surrounded by

his family, Sunday, June 24, 2018. He was born on Christmas morning in Coalton, West Virginia

son of the late Sanford Edwin and Chloe Allen Taylor.

In his early years, he worked at Firestone, Rock Forge coke ovens, the Rices Landing lock and

dam and as a skilled carpenter for Nuce Brothers of Kingwood. He changed his career path in

the late sixties and was trained as a computer operator retiring from WVNET after thirty years of

service. After his retirement, he did clock and watch repair and a myriad of other hobbies.

He, along with his wife Freda, were NRA certified firearms instructors and together they trained

many young people in the safe and proper use of firearms. They also assisted in coaching rifle

teams at the Mason-Dixon Rifle Club, of which he was a past president. He trained all four of his

daughters to be excellent marksmen and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Freda, to whom he was married for sixty-three years. He is also

survived by his four daughters, Susan (Steve) Hilderbrand of Morgantown, Marcia (Randy) Clark

of Morgantown, Mary Beth (Butch) Renner of Granville, and Sharon (Tom) Wass of Rochester,

MN. In addition to his children, he is survived by ten grandchildren Christina (Tim) (Hilderbrand)

Bailey, Zachary Taylor Foy, CJ (Maddie), Brian, and Emily Renner, Luke, Claire, Grant, Kate,

and Scott Wass along with step-grandchildren Jason, Seth and Hilary Clark and four

great-grandchildren Ethan, Colin, and Brycen Bailey and Elizabeth Maisyn Renner. His sister

and brother-in-law Betty and Robert Bishop, Sr. survive him as do several nieces and nephews

and his life-long friends Bill and Betty Nicklow of Cleveland, OH.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son Leonard N., Jr., sisters

and brothers-in-law Leota and Earl Miller and Eleanor and Carlton DeHart, and brothers

Bernard, George, and William (Shorty) Taylor.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Friday, June 29^th from 4-7 pm and again on Saturday, June 30^th from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 11 am with Pastor H. Wayne Swisher officiating.  Private family interment will take place at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
