Obituary of Eileen Rae Moore Hayhurst
Eileen Moore Hayhurst passed over to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, August 15, 2018, while she was at Sundale Nursing Home for rehabilitation.
Eileen Rae Moore was born August 23, 1926, in Belington, Barbour County, West Virginia, to the late Leslie Darl Moore and Bonnie Wilson Moore. She died just eight days short of her 92nd birthday.
Eileen graduated from Morgantown High School in 1943, attended West Virginia University for one year and then married her high school sweetheart in 1944. They had two sons before they were divorced in 1951.
Eileen subsequently graduated from Morgantown Business College and worked for the Soil Conservation Service within the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1954 to 1983. She was married to Thomas S. Davis from 1963 until his death in 1973.
She married Russell J. Hayhurst on July 6, 1985. They were happily married for nearly 33 years, until he passed away earlier this year, on June 6.
Eileen was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Morgantown for over sixty years. She loved reading, playing bridge, and watching WVU football and basketball games, first in person and in her later years on television. She loved her family dearly and always felt that her greatest accomplishments were raising her two sons, Mike and Tim Toothman.
Eileen is survived by her two sons, Michael Lynn Toothman of Ardmore, PA., (wife: Therese) and Timothy Wilson Toothman of Tucson, AZ., (wife: Jessica L. Andrews), her stepdaughter, Pamula Sue (Hayhurst) Pandolfi of Culpeper, VA., (husband: Peter), her daughter-in-law Deborah Hayhurst of Marianna, FL., and a total of eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her brother, L. David Moore and his wife, Jan, of Jasper, GA., two nephews, Jeff Moore (wife: Cathy Cortright) of Marietta, GA. and David Moore (wife: Danah, daughter: Amber) of Jasper, GA., and two nieces, Sheryl Moore of Jasper, GA. and Amy Nesbit (husband: Scott, daughter: Heather, and son: Robert) of Land O' Lakes, FL.
Preceding her in death were her father, L. Darl Moore, her mother, Bonnie Owens, stepfather, Ivan C. Owens, 2nd husband, Thomas Davis, stepson, Robert R. Hayhurst, and her husband, Russell Jefferson "Bob" Hayhurst.
Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home from 2-5 on Sunday, August 26. Additional visitation will occur at the former First Baptist Church (now Foundry Church) at 432 High Street from 10-11 A.M. on Monday, August 27, with services to follow with the Rev.
