Obituary of Gerald Willis Rusch
Gerald W Rusch, age 78, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 1:30pm surrounded by his family at J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Gerald was born October 17, 1939 in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Gerald served proudly in the United States Army from 1962-1967 and then worked for the Federal Government for 28 years before retiring in 1995. One of his many positions was in the Pentagon managing Compassionate Reassignment Requests during the Vietnam War. Gerald always had monumental respect for his country and his flag.
Gerald was an admirable father, grandfather, and friend. He was extremely proud of everyone in his family and he loved them all immensely. Gerald served as an example for his family by demonstrating responsibility, dedication, dependability, and hard work with anything he did.
Throughout his life, Gerald enjoyed all types of music, history, reading, good humor, cooking, German culture, and working in his yard. He also enjoyed sharing stories with his grandchildren.
Gerald is survived by his son, Christopher Rusch Sr., and his wife, Frances Rusch; daughter, Julie Russell, and her husband, Matthew Russell; ex-wife and friend, Linda Worthington; and five grandchildren: Christopher Rusch, Jr., Amber Rusch, Brittany Russell, Jessica Russell, and Joshua Russell. His family and friends will miss him greatly.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation services have been performed. Friends and family will be received to celebrate his life at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Saturday, September 1st from 1-3 pm.
