I played in Invaders in 1969-70 with Birdie his brother. ELLIE is the Father of the Steelpan and deserves to be nominated for the Nobel Prize in physics for a unique invention and a ground-breaking discovery that change the concept of reuse, recycle, renew. ELLIE is Alive forever.

I consider myself amongst the lucky few that not only were touched by the gift Ellie gave the world but also as somebody that got to spend time with him both professionally and personally. Ellie's support for what I am doing kept me going on multiple occasions. I was not able to be an official student of Ellie but I still able to learn a great deal from this incredible man. Ellie has changed the world with his incredible vision, ingenuity and work ethic. Most people cannot even dream of achieving this level of immortality.
My most sincere condolences to all of Ellie's family (blood and not), he has touched the lives of millions and will be deeply missed by those lucky enough to spend time with him.

Thank you for bringing the gift of music to so many people. I began playing steel drums nine years ago and fell in love with the unique sound and the joy of learning difficult music. To see folks want to learn how to play the pans and children dancing when our band plays is the spreading of your gift.
Praying for your family and students.
