Obituary of Albert Hudson Glenn IV
Your cousin, Albert Hudson Glenn, IV, age 66, of South Park, Morgantown, passed away on December 29, 2018, at Mon General Hospital, after a brief illness. Hudson was born February 22, 1952, in Morgantown, West Virginia, the son of the late Albert Hudson Glenn, III, and Mary Ann Trotter Glenn.
Hudson graduated from Morgantown High School in 1970 and attended West Virginia University, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity. Hudson served in the United States Army beginning in 1974, stationed at Fort Ord in Monterey, California. Hudson ultimately returned to Morgantown, where he was self-employed as a mechanical systems designer and consultant.
He had a passion for meticulous and authentic historic home restoration. Hudson was a genealogist, historian, dog lover, avid Mountaineer sports fan, and highly decorated and respected Scoutmaster for the Golden Empire Council of Northern California. Hudson's grandfather was Albert Hudson "Big Sleepy" Glenn and his great uncle was Marshall "Little Sleepy" Glenn, both West Virginia sports legends. His great-uncle was Dr. Frank Butler Trotter, one of the longest serving Presidents of West Virginia University.
Hudson never met a stranger. Within the first conversation, which sometimes could last for several days, Hudson could decipher how he and his new acquaintance were related. Hudson was a loyal friend, with a huge heart, a quick wit, a great sense of humor, and a gift for engaging in intellectual conversation. Above all, Hudson deeply adored his wife, children, and grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Pop." Hudson was a man of great faith and a member of Spruce Street United Methodist Church.
Hudson is survived by his wife of over forty- three years, Holly Heiskell Glenn, sons, Adam Glenn, and wife Sarah, Trevor Glenn, and wife Kara, five grandchildren, Norah, Emily, Henry, Avery, and Violet, in-laws Dr. C. Andrew and Cynthia Heiskell, Mr. Jeffrey Neil and Marcia Heiskell, Ms. Heather Heiskell Jones and Mr. Peter Bradley White, many nephews and nieces, countless cousins and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Elizabeth ("Missy") Smith, and grandson, Oliver Talbott Glenn. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sanjay Bharti, Mon General, and Health South.
Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home on Thursday, January 3, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., the time of service, with Rev. Neil Leftwich officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors.
