It was so sad to learn of Dr Phillips’ passing. There must be a lot of people who benefited from him as his students, but we especially owe him a great deal. It was Dr Phillips who secured a research assistantship at WVU and made it possible for us to study in America. We came from China, with no relatives and friends in Morgantown. Dr Phillips not only treated us as his students, but also opened his house and accepted us to his family. He was our dear friend. We will always remember him.
