Obituary of Derald Gay Dalton
Derald Gay “Fanbelt” Dalton, 74, of Morgantown, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, at J W Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born in Morgantown on July 14, 1944, the son of the late Wilbur Ray and Lucille Shaw Dalton.
Gay was a truck driver for most of his life. He was a man who refused to take life too seriously, and he brought joy and laughter to every gathering. He enjoyed bowling and has been on several leagues over the years. He loved summertime when he went fishing and to dirt track races, where he was known to be a loud and vocal fan of his favorite racer, his nephew, Nolan.
Gay is survived by and will be deeply missed by his companion, Patricia Thomas, and her family; his son, Willis R.; his grandchildren: Allen, Chasity, and Willis Dalton; brothers, Gerald Dalton and Merle Dalton and his wife, Mary; sister, Carol Lantz and husband, Gail; nieces and nephews, Nolan Dalton and wife, Cheryl, Michael Lantz and companion, Theresa, Elizabeth “Liz” Dalton, and Carrie Dalton.
Friends family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, on Thursday, March 21st from 4-8 p.m. and again on Friday, March 22nd from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m., Reverend Lynda Masters officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
