I am eternally grateful to have gotten to know and become friends with Elizabeth through taking her creative writing course at WVU. She was an engaging professor, marvelous writer and such a beautiful human being through and through. I think of her often, especially on the days when I carry the "Bee Thankful," canvas bag that belonged to her.
Elizabeth and my brother in the streets of Morgantown on a cold day. We came to visit and she showed us around. Chris found an orange balloon half inflated and I took a bunch of photos. We called it the tale of the sad balloon. Or maybe it was mostly me.
Elizabeth drove a long way to come to my wedding and met Germaine for the first time. I was glad she came and many important people in my life connected that day. It was a really scary trip for her I found out later. She was strongest when she was doing for others.
