Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Leo
Elizabeth Ann Leo died on May 10, 2019, at her residence in Morgantown, WV from an accidental fall. She was born on June 4, 1984, in Lansdale, Pennsylvania to John (Jack) F. Leo and Melinda Edmonds Leo. Elizabeth graduated from Albright University with a dual degree with honors in English and Philosophy in 2007. After working for several years in the nursery and landscaping business, she went on to pursue creative writing. Elizabeth obtained a Master's degree in Fine Arts from West Virginia University in 2017. At the time of her death, she was an adjunct professor of undergraduate English at Eberly College of WVU. She was also a valued member of the Lutheran Campus Ministries.
In addition to her parents, Elizabeth leaves behind her beloved brothers: Timothy (Anna Taylor) Leo and Matthew (Kate Burns) Leo of Philadelphia, PA; a 3-month-old nephew, Abraham Leo, niece Addelade Taylor, and numerous cousins and second cousins of whom she was very fond. Elizabeth also treasured her friends and colleagues, especially Jeff, Natalie and Feagin; and her curmudgeonly cat, Jonas.
Hastings Funeral Home of Morgantown, WV was entrusted with her care and provided cremation services. Elizabeth's ashes will be interred privately at Calvary Cemetery in Terre Haute, Indiana.
A Celebration of Life will be held in August at the Lutheran Campus Ministries Chapel in Morgantown, WV. An additional Celebration of Life will also be held in Pennsylvania at a time and place yet to be determined. Elizabeth loved her family, plants, animals, and words. A friend described her as "always the smartest person in the room, but she engaged on your level to bring out the intellect in you."
The family request gifts be made in Elizabeth's memory to support students at West Virginia University. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2019, at 4:30 PM at the Lutheran Campus Ministries Chapel 1497 University Avenue, Morgantown, WV. 26505. The formal portion of the celebration will begin at 5 PM.
