John Zilich posted a condolence
Saturday, November 4, 2023
Hello,
I was Google searching John and I’m saddened by this revelation! I knew John from his brother Michael while in Army R.O.T.C. at West Virginia University. Watching this WVU football game this evening and was wondering if he was at the game. I believe he was a true WVU fanatic !
John was a gentle giant that had many interesting pursuits in his life. I give a salute to my fellow citizen soldier and alumni of WVU ! Rest in peace Sir !

John was a great and honest man with a sense of humor. I used to love to come up and visit when growing up. John and Mike were the fun cousins. We had some great times in our years after college also. John will be missed by all. Rest in peace.

Dear Cousin John
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon you,
And rains fall soft upon your field.
author unknown, old Irish blessing
John was a gentle, kind soul who made us all proud to call him family. His slight smile and quiet laugh will always be remembered and cherished. It was truly a privilege to call him my cousin and he will be missed by me and everyone who knew him. Thanks to everyone who helped make his final days on this earth easier. He deserved the very Best.
Love you, Diana

Go easy my cousin John, always so kind to me as I am ten yrs younger, always appreciated your thoughts and insights when I was growing up.
My fondest memories were when the families were all still together for the holidays at your parents place in Morgantown, or at Pam’s, Uncle Johns or the Marra’s: your mom is one the reasons that I am a professional chef, her noodles, her love for food, family...
Love ya man, thanks for your service and being a fine man.

My condolences to the family and friends of John Rockis. Perhaps the funniest memory that I have of John is the face that he made when I told him that in an effort to lose weight that I was drinking Vodka and Diet Coke. He exclaimed, "That is the worse drink that I ever heard of! I hope that you are buying good Vodka!" I'm sure that John would be pleased to know that I am back drinking Scotch. -- Dave Rowe

What a wonderful and kind hearted man my cousin John was. He was a family man in the greatest sense of the meaning. I loved sitting, talking, and listening to him. Such an interesting person who genuinely listened to what others had to say. I am just sorry that I lived so far away the past couple of years to have missed his company. I will always miss the visits when he would bring my aunt Bonnie over to my mothers for coffee. The conversation always made us smile. I will miss you, dear cousin. Love, Francie

John was my cousin, when I think of him the first thing that comes to mind is , he was actually the kindest man that I knew. I never knew anyone that loved their family like my little cousin. Man of few words, but he got his message across. He will always be in my heart along with the rest of my Dear family. Love, Pam

John was a special life-long friend that I will miss always. I'm truly blessed with the many wonderful memories of our times together and deep friendship. He is a big hearted caring and passionate man that always avoided conflicts. I pray his eternal rest is a happy one at peace next to his Father and Mother! We all have a new Angle in Heaven looking over us as we continue our life in this world. Eventually, I will again have the opportunity to spend time with my dear friend endearingly referred to as "Big John" or "Rock". RIP my friend!
