As a student I knew Royce as an instructor in Accounting at WVU in 1956. He presented the material in a manner that made it enjoyable to work thru the instruction in class, and thru out my life.
As an enlisted US Army Reservist while attending WVU from 1955 - 1958 I had the opportunity to learn leadership traits from Lt Watts that carried over during my career in the US Army from 1958 to 1978.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Royce but what a full and complete life he had. I enjoyed my varied interactions with him over my years at WVU...always a wealth of knowledge, always willing to share and fully explain; a joy to interact with! He will be greatly remembered for his knowledge and kindness!

Royce Watts was without question the toughest professor I ever had. I was glad just to get out out of his statistics course with a passing grade. Several years later, I had to take another statistics course in graduate school at the University of Minnesota. It was considered the most difficult course in the curriculum. I had no problem with it and easily got an A grade. That is when I appreciated Royce Watts. It was not the grade I got from him but what I had learned. He was also my advisor during undergraduate school. Thank you Royce Watts for teaching so many so well for so many years
