Dear Rondalyn, Zac, Alex and the entire Whitney family, I was devastated to learn of Whit's passing today. I am so terribly sorry. I've hardly known a human being in my lifetime with such impeccable integrity and kindness. Not to mention off-the-charts brilliance and love of life. To Rondalyn Zac and Alex. As your mother knows, I named my first child Whitney after your father. I had hoped to endow her with some of his attributes. Long before we met you Rondalin we had hoped that Carla my sister would marry Whitney. He was my mother’s and Carla’s siblings favorite beau. I was so happy when U2 married. I knew it was going to be perfect. You may wonder what those attributes are that I love so much about Whit ... integrity, joyful heart, humility and brains, well reasoned, thoughtful, moral, fun, kind and gracious. Bill was my freshman year roommate at Williams and I have always thought very fondly of him and your family. He was truly one of the nicest guys I met while there ... and certainly it was my luck to have gotten to know him and you all during a wonderful week the summer of '76 in Sea Girt.
