On a whim I decided to check the WVU swing dance facebook group today that was the organization where I first met Ed. I can't believe he's gone! I remember the first time Ed zoomed into class. Although I was an instructor and taught him dance, I learned far more from him. His perserverence to learn and adapt is truly inspiring. The world will sorely miss him. Goodbye my friend.

Zoom was so alive to me, a stranger, from Catholic Match. He shared his sense of fun and his real, lived life, so openly and without burden. I loved how he would get in the car to travel somewhere for a dance, for example, and share what was exhausting, or a bit of a stretch financially, and always focus on the victory, the joy of the event and his fellowship with others. He was a llovely, familiar unknown brother in Christ.
It sounded like another visit to the hospital, and with an outcome unexpected, from his last post. He was optimistic about getting back to everyone. I think that he looked ahead, always, and at his death, looked ahead, and did the next thing, which was to do the business of dying. And now I wish him eternity in Heaven.
May God bless and give comfort to his family and close friends.
Adding my prayers and rosary decades,
Another stranger, left in tears, gratefulness, and joy at his victory in Christ,
Paula G.

Sincerest condolences to you, Beth, as well as to all who were blessed in their relationship with Ed. He was a truly amazing man - full of energy, humor, adventure, and a deep love for Our Lord. It amazes me how he didnt hesitate to just GO - to see some sights, visit new places, meet up with new or long time friends. He traveled to the Indianapolis area for a few of our gatherings - it was so good to meet in person finally this man behind the keyboard. Ed will be missed dearly, and remembered fondly. RIP Zoom.

Unfortunately, I never got to meet Zoom in person, but I definitely considered him a friend. We interacted regularly on Facebook and also texted and emailed each other occasionally.
Zoom was full of life, very smart, and very serious about several things: among them were his faith, Star Trek, Earl Grey tea, debunking false information online, shedding light on challenges that he and other people with physical handicaps face(d), and dancing. He also loved and cared for his family and friends dearly.
In everything, Zoom was a man of honor. That's difficult to find today on such a consistent basis.
May you continue to experience God's love and have a blast in heaven, Zoom. Thank you for your friendship, for your examples of how to truly live life and be a good person, and for impacting so many people in a positive way. We already miss you down here on earth.

Your friends on the Defenders of the Catholic Faith board miss you already. Never a dull moment when you were online. You will be remembered for your prolific posting in the Moribund Banning threads, and your title of Grand WaZOOM (college bowl game picker), as well as for you zest for life. Rest in peace, dear friend.

I had the pleasure of conversing with Zoom through the ST. Raphael.net site which is now Catholic Match. His pleasing personality shown through on the forums, especially in the Entertainment Room. I was always amazed by how you traveled to the meet ups to meet the other members. Your zest for life was impressive. You will always be an inspiration to me. Your memory will live on in the hearts of every life you touched. I miss you Zoom.

Edward Martin "Zoom" Curtis taught us all so much on how to enjoy each day to its fullest. He was always on the go and never let anything stop him. I will miss his wit and humor. He was such an easy person to like. May his reward be great in heaven. My sincere condolence to his sister Beth, and all his family and friends. Zoom's spirit will live on in all the lives he has touched. Rest in Peace dear Zoom. I unban you forever into paradise my dear friend where there is no more sorrow and no more pain.

Edward's upbeat and positive approach to life was underpinned by his faith. We commiserated over the recent fortunes of our favourite hockey teams(Edward: Detrot Red Wings, myself: Edmonton Oilers).

Zoom is such an appropriate name for Edward, for he was everywhere. A prolific poster in a variety of forums, I only knew him from a handful. Yet his beautiful intellect, wit, and faith shone through it all. He accepted good-natured teasing with grace. Definitively a gentleman, you could easily get caught up in his enthusiasm for epic tales of devotion and chivalry. Oh, how Edwise loved Tolkien's Lord of the Rings as well as being quite fond of Star Wars, Star Trek, and a wealth of others. When he shared stories of concerts (like Francesca Battistelli's) he went to or his plans to go up by Niagara Falls for his upcoming birthday, many of us listened with rapt attention, and there might have been a couple of us who wished we could organize a group to all go together and share the adventure. As confident as we are that you are in Heaven, dear Eddie, we will continue to miss you for quite some time, and we will never forget you. Please remember us in your prayers as we do you in ours.
Love always, C.C. and the Ban Room gang

I went to high school with Ed. And while life's journies may have kept us physically apart - Facebook kept us together emotionally. We shared and discussed our love of our faith and Star Trek! Eddie, you certainly lived well and prospered! And you will be missed!
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
