I met Harold Shamberger soon after beginning my career in the English Department at WVU in the early sixties. I don’t remember the occasion, but I’m sure Hal was filling one of the many administrative positions, including as assistant to university presidents, that allowed him to use his skills to make things go better for everyone. What I remember most about him were his friendliness to a less experienced colleague, his good humor, his even-handedness and his smile.
I am very sorry for the loss felt by his friends and family and wish them some ease in knowing how many people were grateful to have shared a little of his life.

My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to all the the family. "Tolerable" was such a wonderful man. I feel blessed to know both he and Helen. I missed them in their normal pew at church when they could no longer attend. I would see him at the gym. When greeting him with Hello Mr. Shamberger, he would reply that was my father! We fell into the routine of me saying Hello Tolerable. I guess that is how you are! His smile was always bright. His eyes g,uttered when you asked about Helen. Prayers of comfort at this difficult time.

Helen and Family You all have my Deepest Sympathy. He was the only 1st cousin I had left in the Shamberger Family. He was the oldest and I was the youngest. I enjoyed doing the family Genealogy for the Shamberger Family and Hal helped answer some of my questions. I appreciate Anne for taking the time to message me with information but at my age it was a little too far from NJ to come to the graveside service. Tom I believe you posted on Ancestry you and I shared DNA and we do. If you are still on Ancestry you can go to my Shamberger page I'm BettyLou68 or hunterbill35@gmail.com. I can always help you along and make you a guest on my pages.
I always loved hearing Hal tell stories when he was in the navy and he was so handsome in his uniform. Uncle Rudy my fathers brother he came to visit one day and brought Graces three children with him. I have been in contact with Carol Huber on email.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you tomorrow and send prayers to everyone.
Betty Lou Shamberger and husband Bill Walker, Branchville, NJ.
