I was sad to learn of Dwight's passing, I can still hear his gentle southern drawl. I knew Dwight when he lived in Massachusetts. I don't remember how we met, but I valued his wit and caring heart. When I was training as an Alexander technique teacher he let me work with him. I don't think I did any lasting damage! I send my condolences to his dear ones.

On behalf of my husband Werner Pluhar and I, Elissa Hoffman, I want to say thank you to whoever wrote this obituary. It is beautifully written. Dwight was a man of many, many talents. His degrees in psychology, psychiatry, and his nonfiction and fiction writings attest to that. He was a gem of a man, with sincere feelings and kindness. Both Werner and I will hold him in our hearts.
Our deepest condolences to his family and friends. We will light a candle in his honor.

Barry used to see Dwight at Healthworks and they would greet each other. Joe knew him from when he spoke so movingly about his book "A Quiet Hero" at Tree of Life Congregation. This is a loss, not just for the family, but for the entire Morgantown community where Dwight was one of Morgantown's bright stars. Condolences to your family, Dave and Colleen. May his memory be a blessing.

On behalf of my wife Kristi and I, we want to express our deepest condolences to Dave (Harshbarger) and the rest of his family on the passing of Dwight. His life was one that was well-lived. I was most struck by his intelligence, honesty, sincerity, integrity, and kindness. He was a role role model for all and a person who was always concerned about the 'greater good' versus the accumulation of financial wealth. Again, our deepest condolences during these unprecedented times. George and Kristi (Kelley)

The beautifully written obituary celebrates this amazing man's life. So often we know little of the complex lives of friends we meet later in life, early influences and adventures that created the person we admire and think we know. I was amazed to learn so much about Dwight, a man whose presence and works I enjoyed; amazed to see how much more there was to discover. It brings to mind the song of our friend, Chris Haddox, that goes, "Don't wait 'til they're gone to tell them you love them..." We had the chance to tell Dwight that we love him, but I missed the opportunity to hear from him so many stories of his rich life. Don't wait 'til they're gone to listen to their stories! Love to his family and friends. Cindy

I worked with Dwight off and on through his entire career. Dwight was an extremely broad thinker and a very caring and committed person. From some of his earliest research on disasters in West Virginia to his later historical novels Dwight demonstrated that his considerable abilities as a thinker and a writer were accompanied by genuine concern for those who had experienced suffering and despair.
The world has lost a renaissance man with a heart.

Dwight gave so much to us in this community. His wit, wise counsel, good humor, and generous spirit remain with us in shared memories and in his written works. I cherish these gifts he gave so freely. He leaves this world, and my world, a better place because he was in it. Rest easy, friend. Blessings & light to his family, his partner Betsy, and Dory.

Dwight was and is a bright light in my life. I had the good fortune of working with him in public health and in our community. He was an insightful soul who cared deeply about others. His physical presence will be missed although his love remains in our hearts. Miss you, my brother. Bill
