Obituary of Betty Lou Eddy

Betty Lou Eddy, 92, of Morgantown passed away April 11, 2021 at Mon General Hospital and is now with her husband Eugene. Betty Lou was born December 10, 1928 to the late Ira Bennett and Emma Nestor. She was born and raised in London, West Virginia but made her home in Morgantown, WV.
Mrs. Eddy was a 55-year member of Star City United Methodist Church and attended Avery United Methodist after the closing of Star City. She retired from Beaumont Glass Factory as a glass decorator after 27 years of service. Betty Lou was very generous with her time. She taught sewing for 4-H members, she was a former member of the Farm Women’s Club, Citizens Band Radio Club and National Campers and Hikers Association. Her and her husband built three houses over the years. Her and Eugene were able to enjoy their retirement. They traveled across the country multiple times visiting every state except Hawaii. Her favorite state was Alaska. They traveled there 5 different times taking a different route each trip.
She is survived by her daughters Sandy Marshall, Laura Jones and husband Mike, Sue-Ellen Byard. Grandchildren Mary Jane Spicer and Fiancée Donnie Franks, Sabrina Austin and fiancée Bobby Hardman, 3 great grandchildren Erika Spicer, Amanda Spicer and Caleb Austin and a brother Wendell Bennett from Upper State New York. She is also survived by her former son in law Doug Byard.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death her late husband Carl E. Eddy and grandson in law Matt Austin.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Amedisys for their help in taking care of Betty Lou and Susie Chips and Courtnie Thorne for being great care givers at Betty’s Home. A special thank you to the nursing staff at Mon General Hospital 6 North floor for their kindness and compassion.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home, Omega Crematory. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St. Morgantown, WV on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 3pm until the time of the memorial service at 5pm with Pastor Junius Lewis officiating.
Although guests are invited to come visit, it is required, per the CDC pandemic guidelines, that all visitors wear face masks and practice social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Canyon Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, 18 Whipkey Lane, Morgantown, WV 26508.
