Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Jane Floyd, 62, of Pool, WV passed on Wednesday, August 4, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Mary Jane was born on October 13, 1958, in Akron Ohio, and raised in Baxter West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late David and Glenna Floyd. Mary Jane was the oldest of 4 children and is leaving behind 3 heartbroken siblings: Tim (Barb) Floyd of Baltimore, Maryland; Bev Floyd of Pool, WV, and John Floyd of Roanoke, VA. She also leaves behind three nieces: Taylor Floyd, Christy (Chris) Oxenrider, and Jaime (Brian) Nagel. Mary Jane's other nieces and nephews include – Devin and Anna (Tamara and Jimbo); Colton, Lukas, Dakota, Josie, and a little boy due in December (Alex and Joe); Kalli, Autumn, Brayden, Olivia, Grayson, and Memphis (Traci and Craig); Aubrie, Maelee, and Beckett (Carolyn and Donnie); and Chloe, Emily and Axel (Chasity). Plus 5 great-nieces and nephews - Jordan, Dylan, Addie, Lilly, and Miles. And her Heart kids Candice and Lou Bielut. Mary Jane was born a caregiver. The human body fascinated her and it was her passion. She spent most of her career working in the medical field as a Medical Assistant. She tried to get out of medicine one time and worked for a trucking company as a Secretary. This is where she became certified as a Forklift Operator (she was very proud of that accomplishment!). She eventually got back into medicine and went on to become an instructor of Allied Health at New River Community College. When she first began teaching, she also went back to school and completed her Bachelor's Degree. This turned out to be her dream job and she loved teaching other people how the human body worked. She loved her students as much as they loved her. In addition to her parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by both her Maternal Grandparents (John and Beatrice Weese) and her Paternal Grandparents (Lester and Mary Catherine Floyd), and many loved Aunts and Uncles. Friends and family will be received at White Funeral Home, 700 Broad St, Summersville, WV 26651 on Saturday, August 7th from 1:00 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 2:00 pm. Mary Jane was devoted to her students at New River Community and Technical College. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial gifts be sent to New River CTC Foundation to benefit students studying phlebotomy and allied health programs at the college.
