Obituary of Charlotte Ann Lawson

Charlotte Newman Lawson, 85, of Halleck Road, died on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Mon Health and Medical Center. She was born on March 6, 1936, in Fairmont, daughter of the late Arthur and Bessie (Carter) Newman. Charlotte loved socializing with neighbors and was active in many neighborhood organizations. Her hobby was watching Gunsmoke. She was a lifetime member of Summers Church. Charlotte is survived by five children, Beverly Solomon and husband, Vic, James Lawson and wife, Sharon, David Lawson and wife, Anita, Edward Dale Lawson and wife, Becky, and Linda Hess and husband, Randy, all of Morgantown. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; several step grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Newman and wife, Mary; one special niece, Michelle Barnett; one special nephew, Russell Lawson and his wife, Alecta, as well as several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Charlotte is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Harry Dale Lawson, who passed in October, 2015; one sister, Sue Ellen, who passed away at birth; and one brother, Kenneth Newman. Hastings Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements and private graveside services will be held with interment at Summers Church Cemetery.
