Marilyn Jean Smith, 92, of Morgantown, passed away on 13th of December at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 16th, 1929, the daughter of the late James Emery and Myrtle Nellie (Miller) Deaki.
Jean was a professional glass cutter by trade and worked at both Sacco and Gentile Glass factories. Azala Garden Club and the Wakoma Chapter 52, Order of the Eastern Star. Jean was also responsible for starting the first ever Brownie and Girl Scout troop in Westover.
She is survived by her children, Harriet Simons and her partner, Martin Mazzella and Harry Dale “Dink” Smith II and his wife Goldie; five grandchildren: Nicholas Simons and his wife, Annie, Harry Dale “Tad” Smith III, Lindsey Creekmore, Tony Dalton, and Raymus Dalton and his wife Haley; seven great grandchildren: Tilden James Simons, Ellie Lynn Simons, Harry Dale Smith IV, Libby Smith, Raylee Jean Dalton, Josie Alana Dalton, and Katlin Creekmore; her siblings, Zelda Laurita and John Deaki; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harry Dale Smith and her siblings, Emery Deaki, Steve Takacs, and Matilda Takacs Gerwig.
A graveside service will be held at East Oak Grove Cemetery on Friday, December 17th at 1 p.m. with Pastor Casper Dalton officiating.
