Ray G. Kirk, 77, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, died Sunday, January 2, 2022 at JW Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born on April 18, 1944, in Boothsville, WV, a son of the late Samuel Lewis and Bertha Gay (Keener) Kirk. Ray served two years in the U. S. Army where he qualified as a skilled marksman and a hand-to-hand combat instructor. He was also a Vietnam Veteran and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 626. He worked as a plumbing and heating specialist at Hugharts in Morgantown for 15 years, owned his own business, Ray’s Plumbing and Heating for 10 years. He then went on to work at WVU/Maintenance Engineering where he retired after 11 years. Ray loved and cherished his family and friends, drinking cold Genesee beer and pitching horseshoes. He also loved hunting, fishing, reading and watching westerns and football on TV and listening to country music. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kirk is preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jean Lawson and two brothers, Paul Lewis and Robert Edward Kirk. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alice Jean (Hinzy) Kirk; his son, Russell Lee Kirk; and three grandsons, Matthew Lee, Zachery Ray Kirk and Ethan Allen Sykes, all of Fairmont, WV; one sister, Ettas Octovia Kramer, of North Bloomfield, OH; and one brother, Samuel Dale Kirk, of Strafford, Missouri. Ray requested no formal memorial services be held but a Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, April 23, 2022, at his home pending the COVID19 situation.
