I grew up in Wheeling, so I have known Pat and Nancy for a long time. I am truly in shock over her passing. I know God has a plan, but I really want to understand his plan and make sense of it. I remember Pat and Nancy as life guards at Garden Park pool in Warwood. I would be at cheering practice in the nearby park, and they would be at the pool in their red swimming suits. It seems just like yesterday. I was good friends with Nancy's sister, Jennifer. We went to Wheeling Park together, and we were waitresses at the Anchor Room in Beech Bottom at the same time.
When Nancy's kids and my kids were little, we spent the summers at the Elk's pool in Morgantown. What fun times! Nancy always seemed to have the patience of a saint...a calming demeanor who never seemed frazzled raising four children.
Most importantly, I have had the pleasure of knowing all of Pat and Nancy's children. Eli was in my homeroom for four years at Morgantown High School, and I had Alex and Ross in my English 9 Honors class. I did not have Jenny in class, but I know her well. All the Weidman kids were the epitome of perfect students...smart, kind, respectful, a reserved demeanor just like their mom. I am very fortunate to have known them during their high school years.
I am sending my heartfelt love, sympathy, and prayers to her entire family. I hope her kids know that they can reach out to me if they need anything. May God continue to bless you all.
Sincerely,
Jenny Frum Secreto

The years I worked with Nancy at Mountainview Elementary School were my best moments. My role as Reading Mentor Teacher gave me the special opportunity to work with amazing teachers like Nancy. She was so nice and always friendly. What a great heart she had for her students and others too that she didn't teach. You would always see her in the hallways bending over to talk to the kids. Her respect for them, her position, our literacy goals, and her friends and colleagues was true and honest. I don't remember her ever complaining even when others may have had something to whine about. After I began teaching English as a Second Language I ran into Nancy at South Middle School where she was then teaching. It was such a pleasure to have her near me again. Every time I came to meet my students, Nancy would remember and stop by to say Hi and see how the kids were doing. We often exchanged stories about our own children, whose paths crossed in school and sports. It is a shock to me to lose Nancy. Honestly, even though I have retired from the school system, I always thought our paths would cross again.
My condolences to her family.

I remember very well when Jim and I would go down from Bethany to Sunday dinners. Somehow we always were seated across from Ann and Nancy, who never took their eyes off of me. Two pairs of brown eyes staring right through me. They were a force to be reckoned with! Their names were said as one run-on word: “AnnandNancy” I would come to learn.
Fast forward… Megan, Erin and Matt were born. And Jenny, Eli, Alex and Ross came along. I liked to refer to the boys as “Nancy’s boys” like the novel “Jo’s Boys.” What a devoted mom she was to her children. We all saw that.
Nancy proclaimed herself the kids’ favorite aunt. And she proclaimed it every opportunity she got! Our kids will always remember their Aunt Nance with a lot of love.
She and I would compare teaching notes. We had similar positions and we liked to talk about what skills we were using with our students.
Jim and Nancy shared a birthday which gave them a special bond. We all know the story of Jim getting his baby sister Nancy for his tenth birthday present. He had been hoping for a catcher’s mitt……
Rest In Peace, sister-in-law of mine. Love, Mare

Nancy is a beautiful soul. Growing up my life was dark but she was always a positive light. She was just so generous and loving. She even made me cinnamon rolls that were half done but full of love and deliciousness. I’ll never forget her sweet smile. Heaven gained an angel

I want to share a couple of my favorite memories of my wonderful Aunt Nancy.
In high school she would come to my soccer games when we played in Morgantown. My senior year of high school I dyed my hair from blonde to brunette. When we played Morgantown high she was sitting in the stands with my family and right before the referee blew the whistle to start the game, as the stadium was silent, she yelled out “Ali I liked you better as a blonde!” That got a good laugh from the fans and both teams.
Another memory is at the beach with the Dailer’s, my mom and Aunt Nancy refused to get in the ocean the entire trip. Day after day Jenny and I would beg our moms to get in the water with us. They refused bc they were scared (of the waves and the creatures).. finally Jenny and I got our moms to come in the ocean with us. We got past the break and the biggest wave was coming straight toward us. Jenny and I told our moms to dive under but they tried to run back and got absolutely blasted by this wave. We had a good laugh about that later that day.
Lastly, my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Pat created, raised and influenced one of my most favorite people in the entire world, their daughter, my cousin, Jenny.
I already miss you so much, Aunt Nancy. You were an amazing mother, sister, aunt and person. I love you ❤️

I loved Nancy and am very saddened by this news. I always knew she would make a terrific teacher. When I had Eli in first grade, at Mountainview, I will never forget the day she came to me and didn’t think Eli was a fit for me as a teacher, but my most cherished memory was at the end of the year when she said through tears that I was the best for Eli! I was moving back home to Colorado that year and she told me she wished I could have her other boys! Eli, I don’t know if you’ll read this and remember me, but you were an amazing first grader and your mom was the best! I believe I encouraged her to pursue the teaching world. Thank you for sharing part of her life and yours with me. My sincere condolences, Mrs. Barbara Kerin/Porter

I am so sad to hear that Nancy has passed. She was an amazing person, a compassionate educator, and a wonderful friend. She was always there to shepherd a student in distress into a safer, calmer environment where she inevitably diffused their stress and helped them figure out what to do. I will always think of her joyful voice, calling my name down the hallways at South to tell me a funny story about a friend/coworker. My thoughts and prayers are with Nancy’s family. Please know everyone who met Nancy was deeply touched by her warmth, her sense of humor, and her generous, empathetic nature.
