Darrell Wayne Wilt, 82, of Morgantown and formerly of Clarksburg, West Virginia, passed away on February 9, 2022 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born on January 12, 1940 in Cumberland, Maryland, the son of the late Melvin Howard Wilt and Odessa Maude (Sollars) Wilt. Darrell attended Morgantown High School and entered the United States Navy in 1959. He worked for the Morgantown Glass Factory for many years and later managed several various businesses. He attended Crescent Hills Chapel Church in Morgantown, where he made many cherished friends. Darrell is survived by two children, Mark Wilt and his wife Septembre of Salem, WV and Jeffery Wilt and his wife Michelle, of Myrtle Beach, SC. He was preceded in death by their mother Nancy Susan (Gross) Wilt; along with two brothers and their wives: Ronald and Violet Wilt; and John, "Bud" and Patricia Wilt. He is also survived by two sisters, Mildred Jean (Wilt) Pavelko and her husband Donald of Morgantown, WV, and Carolyn (Wilt) Kurilko and her husband Ronald of Elverson, PA; three grandchildren, Mark Bradley "Brad" Wilt of Salem, WV, Courtney P Wilt of Buckhannon, WV, and Ava B Wilt of Myrtle Beach, SC; and several nieces and nephews. Darrell loved socializing while attending his appointments at the Louis A. Johnson, Veterans Hospital in Clarksburg, WV. He was proud of his country and his service. The family extends its deepest gratitude to his caregivers, of whom Darrell thought the world, especially Nicky Johnson, Amber West and Lisa Fleming. Nicky was kind enough to stay by his side until his passing and ensured he was given a respectful veteran's goodbye. A special thank you is also extended to Dr. Robert Beto, Darrell's nephew-in-law, who guided his care and provided companionship. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at the WV National Cemetery, 42 Veterans Memorial Ln, Grafton, WV 26354 on Thursday, March 10, at 10:00am.
