Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harold Alexander Sneddon, Jr., 79, of Kingwood, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, April 30, 2022. He was born October 14, 1942 in Morgantown, son of Harold A. Sneddon, Sr. and Mary Wise Sneddon, deceased. Harold graduated from Morgantown High School in 1961. In his younger years, he raced stock cars at the Morgantown Speedway. Cars and driving were a life-long passion for Harold, including owning antique cars. He took up golf as a young boy, at the Preston County Country Club, where he became an accomplished player. When his illness cut Harold's playing short, he continued to enjoy being a ranger and watching others play. Outside of being with Meredith and family at his cabin in Preston County, Harold was most content spending time with his friends. A true 'man's man', he looked forward to spending time at deer camp and hunting with his buddies each year. Not to be deterred by his physical limitations, Harold made it to camp one last time in November 2021, bragging about the two deer he brought home. Harold also cherished his fishing and his regular poker game and the life-long friendships built across the table. Harold was involved in various business interests throughout his life. He began working for his father, “Red” at H&I Auto Supply in Morgantown, WV. as a young man. He briefly left the family business to work for Consolidated Coal Company's Blacksville No. 1 mine, where he was a part of the fire rescue team at the time of the mine fire in July 1972. Harold returned to work at H&I Auto Supply, taking over the operations and grew the business over the years, including starting Meredith Tire in Kingwood, WV. Following his retirement from the tire business in the early 1990s, Harold and Meredith lived in Chicago, IL, where he held a seat on the Chicago Board of Options Exchange. Harold and Meredith returned to live out his retirement at his cabin in Preston County, West Virginia. Harold is survived by his wife of 44 years, Meredith (Brown) Sneddon; daughters, Vicki Lemine (Joseph) of Morgantown, WV and their children, Matthew Lemine,(Melinda) and their son Henry, the only great-grandchild, Michael Lemine, and Mary Lemine, all of Morgantown, WV; Sally Sneddon (Doug Beck) of New Jersey; Shannon White-Metz of Hurricane, WV and her children Riley of Lubbock, TX, Camryn of St. Albans, WV, and Shelby of Hurricane, WV: and Kristin (White) Kroeger (Paul) Chesterton, IN and their children Gabriel and Olivia; sister, Charlotte Trader (Charles) of Edenton, NC and their children Chrissy and Charlie; and cousins, Ann Lynn Gaskins, Kathryn Goodwin, Robert Sneddon, and Carol Ann Murdock.
