Dr. Don Scott Wilkinson posted a condolence

I was an anatomy teaching assistant for Dr Leah Williams in 1987 at WVU. She changed the course of my life, and I became an endodontist. When I heard of her retirement from WVU, we reconnected through Facebook, and I am grateful to have been given the chance to thank her again. There is a wonderful movie from 1955, "Good Morning Miss Dove", which reminds me of Dr Williams, in that neither had children, but both affected the lives of hundreds of students. I have the fondest memories of her, she is forever in my thoughts, and those of hundreds of her other students.

Leah was already well-known and greatly respected when I joined the faculty at WVU and, like many others, I admired her warmth, wisdom, and confidence. Even at a time in the University's history when women's capacities for leadership were not always valued, Leah lifted others up through her strength and generosity. She improved the lives of all she knew and worked with. I am grateful our paths crossed.

When I transferred into the WVU biology graduate program back in 1978, I was a teaching assistant for Dr. Williams' comparative vertebrate anatomy lab. She was a class act--firm but fair. Years later, we reconnected on Facebook.
