I'm not sure where to even start. I transferred to MHS as a junior and it was a very difficult transition having grown up in Fairmont... leaving friends and family. But the Talerico's adopted me from the beginning and Sammy looked out for me from the start. He was a fixture at every game and a fan from the beginning. The support he showed me is something I'll never forget. His son Jamie is truly apple... tree. The best friend a person could ask for and Sammy taught him how to be that way. I'll never be able to repay Sammy for taking me on recruiting visits in the south and the incredibly nice things he would say about me to anyone that would listen while we were at those schools. Sammy really showed me what loyalty was... with how he supported me even when I didn't really deserve it. He has left an indelible mark on my life... just as he has touched so many other lives. Always greeting me with a smile, hug and kiss on both cheeks. The linguine with white clam sauce meals at 2AM are stuff of legend... you NEVER left Sammy's house hungry! Sammy... I thank you from the bottom of my heart! I love you cugino! la famiglia è amore!

It is with deep sadness that I learn of Sam’s passing. It is a great loss to a lot of people-and especially me.. We have know each other for pretty close to 50 years. Sam was a fixture at about every ballgame that was going on and if I was also in attendance we’d be sure to get together and share a laugh—and when Sam was around there was ALWAYS a lot of laughing going on. I also knew Sam as s parent and had several members of the family(his kids) in my classroom at Suncrest Jr HIGH—-and if I’d stayed longer I would have had all the kids at one time or another. But back in the 70’s job opportunities took me elsewhere. I never left the Morgantown area and would still run into him at ballgames here and there. His passing is going to be truly missed by all that had the pleasure and opportunity of meeting and talking to him. I will never forget some of the good times we shared. I wish Sam Godspeed to his next residence-heaven-and wish peace, comfort understanding upon all family and friends that that will truly miss this loving, caring and jovial man.
TO THE FAMILY—- I hope to see u at the viewing (and would loved to see the immediate family but I had surgery yesterday and am dealing with recovery. So I’m a maybe. If I don’t make it and u want to say “hi” you can call or text me at 304-680-3767

I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Sammy. He was my Dad's best friend even though they couldn't see each other much in later years. Sam introduced my Dad to my Mother and that was it. He kept telling my Mother that he had the perfect man for her. She didn't believe him and kept putting him off. Sammy being so sure he was right, finally brought them together. They have been together ever since. Growing up around the Talerico family was crazy at times, but always fun! The world is a much darker place without Sammy's light, but our Faith is strong, we will see him again.
All my love to Cookie, Randy, Terry, Tina and Jamie. ~Marci

I've never known my life without Sam (and the Talerico's) in it and I can't imagine life without Sam being around. I have so many fond memories of him...his kindness, his generosity, his sense of humor, his smile and his love he gave to everyone. And, oh the crazy stories I (and probably everyone who knows him) could tell...truly the stuff of legends that no doubt will live on in my heart forever!
Sam, you will be sorely missed and local sporting events won't be the same without you there. But, the outstanding family and legacy you've left will go on and I will never forget you!!!
With Jesus, there are no good-bye's but only see you later's... see you later, Sam! Love you!

Kindest man I ever knew. I wish I had 1/100th of the energy he had and used to make me feel loved and welcomed every single time he saw me. "I love ya buddy" he would say with a smile and a hug no matter where we were and what was happening. I grew up playing against and with Jamie in various sports. Sam was just one of the best persons I have ever known and that is all there is to say. I can envision him shaking hands, hugging, and telling everyone in Heaven that got there before him how much he loves them right now. He was truly an exemplary model of what a man should be. Rest easy old friend.
