A great lady. I don't believe she ever knew the wonderful effect she had on my life, just from the very little time we talked together.

Dear Carole,
It is hard to believe that one-half of the most gifted, generous, and graceful mother-daughter duo is now in Heaven rather than physically present among us. Kacy's legacy as the "Queen of Dance" is written in history, and through all the lives that she (and you) touched. I am so thankful that Phil and I were able to visit you both in April. Even then she lit up the room with her smile and grace.
Carole, you provided such a fabulous life for your mother. Through your caring devotion, she lived fully until the last dance.
I picture Kacy in heaven with her Crown, laughing with Ora Lee and Jo Ann over a Scotch. I look forward to doing the same with you in the near future. All my love, Lisa

I just found out about Kacy's passing. I'm heartbroken. I adored her more than I can say. I've known her my entire life and loved being around her. She was always an absolute delight and so so kind. She will be missed by so many.

Dear Carole and Family--
When I came to Morgantown and to WVU, I thought my experience with dance was well behind me except for on the page. I will never forget the kindness and support that Kacy and you extended to me, and the opportunities to work with student dancers you afforded this former dancer. I loved Kacy's stories of her many years making dance a part of the university and the state. I also loved learning that while my mom was a student at WVU, she took Kacy's classes--described by her as the class she took to move, have fun, and appreciate dance. Perhaps that's why her daughter became a dancer? I like to think there was a connection. Kacy was fierce in her dedication to dance, and strove to share its beauty. I mourn her loss and appreciate her dedication, and hope, in some small way, to uphold her legacy.
With much love,
Renée Nicholson

Mary Katherine was one of the most influential people of my academic career which spanned three universities and three degrees. I believe, to this day, had I not been a part of the Orchesis, our resident modern dance company at WVU, I might not have made it through my undergraduate work. I was introduced to Mrs. Weidebusch in the second semester of my freshman year, restless and unsatisfied with college life, I decided to take a modern dance class. While trained in ballet, I was amazed by this woman dancing in her bare feet, pounding on the handheld drum calling out directions that seemed so natural, so organic, I was hooked and tried out for Orchesis during that semester. Mrs. Weidebusch created a creative and open atmosphere as the director of Orchesis, one that provided a safe and productive environment in which to study dance and grow as a young woman. This started a six-year working relationship with one of the kindest, most driven women I had ever met; she was insistent, relentless, and overall, a wonderful human being that was inspired to move, teach, and share her experience with us. During my tenure in Orchesis, ending with a graduate teaching assistantship in dance, countless professional dancers were brought in through the dance residency program developed by Mrs. Weidebusch, all of which helped shape my appreciation and of dance as an art form, as well as a broader understanding and curiosity about human movement, greatly and forever influencing my academic path.
While her vitae reflects the enormous impact she had on dance at WVU, I am, as one of her “girls”, forever grateful for the time spent under her mentorship and time spent with her.
My love and peaceful thoughts to you and your family Carole, as I know you have lost not only a wonderful, loving mother, but a lifelong friend and confidant.

I was so sorry to hear about Kacy. She was such a joy to talk to. She was one of my
favorite Vandalians. I treasure the friendship with her. We had so many wonderful
'talks'. I just cannot say enough nice things about Kacy. Carole, your family is in my
prayers and thoughts at this very difficult time. I can see Kacy up above dancing
with such grace with all her students and friends. God Bless.

Sending love and condolences to you, Carole, Charles, and the entire Wiedebusch family. Kacy will be missed! Yoav and I feel so lucky to have gotten to know her. She was so generous when we arrived at the dance program, sharing her knowledge and passion of all that she built at WVU and in the community. She continued to support us, coming to the dance concert every year with Carole. Kacy even granted an interview with a current dance major this past spring. We are all in her debt. May she rest in peace.

It is with a heavy heart to read the obituary for Mrs.
Wiedebusch. I took every course she taught from 1962 to 1966. I . Also, brought my granddaughter back for her last Orchesis production. She was a wonderful teacher and mentor to women in the Physical Education program. I knew she was in ill health but there were times our paths crossed at Talbots. It was a good time to catch up. She was always willing to do so with one of her old students. May she Rest In Peace as she dances across the sunset.

TO THE FAMILY OF KACY,
MAY YOUR MOTHER REST IN PEACE. MY HUSBAND, OWEN MCMILLEN, WORKED WITH KACY MANY TIMES AT WVU. HE WAS THE ENGINEERING MANAGER FOR RADIO AND TV PRODUCTIONS. SHE WAS A BEAUTIFUL PERSON AND ALWAYS HAD A KIND WORD TO SAY WHEN WE WOULD SEE HER OUT. MAY GOD KEEP ALL OF YOU IN HIS CARE AND GIVE YOU STRENGTH IN THE COMING DAYS!

Blessings to the Spirit of one of the best women to walk and dance among us. During my years at WVU, she was like a second mom to me and the other dancers. She had a heart of gold. I cherish the memories of my time with “ The Wied” as we fondly called her. She was pure magic.
