Gail was my older first cousin who spent a summer with me and her brother Bill in Mexico while she took an art course through an American university. She treated me like an equal although I was only 14. We had such fun; it was an experience I have never forgotten. Through the years we corresponded via phone calls and letters. Her daughter, Tiffany, came to spend time with me one summer in Ville Platte, LA. Gail and my mother were very close; I know there is joy in heaven as they are reunited. As Southerners, names are carried in families generationally. Gail’s middle name, Loyce, was her mother’s sister’s name; they were only a year or less apart. Loyce as a middle name is also shared by one of our mutual cousins. My brother’s older daughter named her older daughter, Corrine, after Gail’s mother. My extended family will be saddened by the loss of our beloved cousin; she and her brother are the first Hines cousins to pass away. I loved Gail; May Her Memory Be Eternal.
