Obituary of Lola Mae Coster

Please share a memory of Lola to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lola M. Coster, 86, entered heaven with great joy on Sunday, September 25, 2022. Lola was born May 28th, 1936, in a small cabin by a gentle stream in Viroqua, Wisconsin to Lydia Selin and Andrew O. Peterson. The best decision she ever made, after devoting her life to Christ, was to partner with Jack E. Coster, whom she married on May 28th, 1955. They were amazing parents to Cheryl Boden (Jeff), Kathy Coster, Jani Coster (Steve Crouse), and Neil Coster (Angela). Lola's family includes eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and one on the way. She loved each one of them tremendously. Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her parents Lydia and Andrew, and her three siblings, Carmen, Arden, and Shirley. Lola earned a bachelor's degree in Horticulture from WVU. A gal of good Norwegian farmstock, Lola loved digging in the dirt and nurturing all the plants that she could, just as she nurtured the people she encountered. A creative soul and life-long learner, Lola loved being outdoors, hiking, and camping, as well as painting, needlework, travel, reading, and music. Gifted with a beautiful alto voice, Lola enjoyed singing in choirs and chorales wherever she lived. Lola shared a life of adventure with Jack, from camel rides in China, ziplining at age 67, celebrating midsummer's eve in Norway, and the Great Grizzly Bear encounter, to saving their sailboat from sinking into Deep Creek Lake with her thumb. She would always say that her greatest adventure was spending her first summer as a newlywed on a fire lookout tower with Jack in remote Montana. Lola was the kindest, gentlest, most loving person you could meet. She had a faith best described as gently fierce and unshakeable. Her greatest gift to her family was to share the assurance of salvation with her children. She would dearly love for each of you to know a joyful and personal relationship with Christ Jesus. In lieu of flowers, Lola would have appreciated, and the family is requesting a donation to the Great Commission Fund through Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. This fund supports missionaries of C&MA Church. https://www.cmalliance.org/about/great-commission-fund Private arrangements are entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home and a memorial service will follow at a later date.
