My sincere condolences to Ruth and all of Hoppy's family. Mike was a very special person and I always enjoyed my time around him. I especially recall how he surprised us with the 5th Dimension concert and air balloon flame up for J.O.T.S. (Jaycees Officers Training School). Bob Staats, Ravenswood WV

Ruth and Family.
Mike had a zest for life. It was with total disbelieve hearing the news of his passing.
I first meet Mike at MHS and just a few years ago he sold our house. He will be missed.
May you find comfort in your fond memories of him. God Bless.

I first met Hoppy as a Jaycée at our National book judging on the 1990's. He would read aloud portions of the projects and say "Now there's a good idea," when he found one he liked. Ideas like the Redneck Yard Art made him chuckle - and you knew some poor soul was going to be the next recipient! But best of all, he was just a nice guy. Our Jaycee Creed states "Service to humanity of the best work of life" and Hoppy did that every day of his life. May your memories lighten your burden in the days to come.

Mike has been a great friend since our grade school years together. Just recently he told me he saved all of our friends grade school pictures. He was a true friend with a heart of gold. He was Santa no one could ever read The Night Before Christmas with so much love as Mike. He has been Santa to my grandchildren for the past 20 years. He made a believer to everyone even the adults. We are going to miss him. He left us with so many memories. He will always be in our hearts.
Heaven has become a brighter, a happier, and a more radiant place. Everytime whether for reality business, a social gathering, or the 'red-suit' activity, Mike brought his special Grace's to each gathering with his smile, voice, and laughter. A kind of "gathering" nature was always present. His confidence was always larger than life itself. And he never forgot who you were. He and Ruth were common people making a blessed couple, may God's peace be upon her and the extended family and friends who remain with Mike's example of living for God thru Jesus!

I was blessed to have met Hoppy while I was a member of the West Virginia Jaycees! He always took time to share things that had worked for him and his chapters when ours was in a jam. But what he shared most was his heart. It was like there was this light of love inside of him.... and it was always on. One thing I feel for sure. He will still be with us through his teachings, his passion, his love. Let us never forget him and continue to share what he gave us.

We are so deeply saddened to hear of our dear Mike’s passing. What a special man he was, and we think his main mission in life was to spread joy to others. We know he did to us with his yearly visits to our home as Santa, first with our children and later our grandson. He had a heart of gold, and we were blessed to call him our friend. We are and will continue praying for you dear Ruthie and family. May our good Lord wrap His loving arms around all of you filling your hearts with His comfort and peace.
Our sincere condolences,
Debbie and Steve King

I had the honor and pleasure of working with Mike in the real estate field for many years. He was always honest and fair in dealing with buyers, sellers, and fellow real estate agents. He was the quiet leader and his actions spoke louder than words. Mike also was the best Santa Claus, I know as he visited my grandsons for many years. To his wife Ruth and his family my deepest sympathies.

We will truly miss Hoppy. He helped us to share Santa and Mrs Claus when he was not able to do so. Then we helped him later by doing the Christmas parade. We have been doing it for him for several years.
Ruthie and Hoppy have been important to us .
Ruthie, you are in our prayers. If we can help you at all, please let us know.
