I met Barbara and Suzanne in the summer of 2004, when I was in town (from Utah) visiting family. I didn't grow up knowing who she was, but reached out to meet her, knowing she was my grandpa's cousin. She and Suzanne were so excited to meet me, my friend and my toddler and served us lunch. Every single year since then (up until her passing) she kept in touch, by mail, sending gifts, and occasional emails. She made us feel so loved. Several years in a row she had a White House commemorative christmas ornament sent to us. I think we have three or four. I wasn't able to go to her memorial back in 2022-2023, but haven't forgotten about her.

My first memory in life was as a toddler visiting the Bucy farm, our next door neighbors. I have so many wonderful memories playing kick ball and wiffle ball at the farm till Mrs Bucy would call Bobby in for dinner. We spent numerous summers getting driven to the 4-H camp pool, where Mrs Bucy was always so stylish in her swimsuit and high heels. I always appreciated that Mrs Bucy would call to check on my mom when the electricity went out, which was pretty common at the farm. As an adult, I loved going to see both Barbara and Bill when I came home for visits. Barbara was always so welcoming. They were wonderful neighbors and their farm was always a magical place for me. I’m disappointed that I didn’t get to visit with Barbara again, as I was planning to go see her in December. She will always hold a special place in my heart. To the Bucy family, I am glad that Barbara lived a long life, and I am so sorry for your loss of this very special woman.
