On Friday, February 17, 2023, Dewey Vance Rotruck Jr., passed away by the side of his wife and daughters in his home at the age of 78 after a battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Dewey was born on November 13, 1944 in Keyser, WV to Dewey and Betty (Liller) Rotruck of Burlington, Mineral County, WV. At the age 21, Dewey enlisted in the United States Army, and prior to deployment to Vietnam, married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Linda Lou Gray. Upon his safe return to the United States, he worked in the insurance industry with a career spanning over 4 decades. He eventually opened his own business, Rotruck Insurance Agency, Inc. before his retirement. Together, Dewey and Linda raised two strong and independent daughters, Julie and Bethany. Dewey was a man of strong Christian faith with a servant’s heart giving his time to help his church family by singing tenor in the choir and serving in numerous leadership roles. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and many other charitable organizations. He was even known to pick up groceries for some of his homebound insurance clients. Dewey was a proud member of Rotary International and Motorcycling Rotarians and was a Paul Harris Fellow. Through Rotary Youth Exchange, Dewey and Linda served as host parents to Morten (Mette) Fisker and Andreina (Garrett) Ballester-Nieto. Dewey loved Mountaineer football, camping, biking and trail walking. Most of all, he loved God and his family.
