Naomi Ann Wade Van Voorhis, 94, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at Evergreen Assisted Living. She was born December 1, 1928 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late Jesse Franklin and Ruby (Barnes) Wade. She was a 1946 graduate of Pt. Marion High School and a 1950 graduate of West Virginia University with a degree in Business Administration and was a member of the Ft. Martin United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and Order of the Eastern Star, Morgantown Chapter #35. She was a member of the Elizabeth Ludington Hagans Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. For the DAR, she served as Chapter Treasurer from 1983-1998, Chapter Regent from 1998-2004, Corresponding Secretary from 2004-2007, Chaplain from 2007-2010 and 2013-2016, Recording Secretary from 2010-2013, State Recording Secretary from 2001-2004 and State Chairman, Project Patriot 2007-2010. In her free time, she enjoyed travelling to the Hampshire County camp, gardening, and going to the beach in Florida and Ocean City, MD. She is survived by her sons, William Van Voorhis of Morgantown, Ken Van Voorhis and his wife Becca of Clover, SC, Gary Van Voorhis and his wife Lee-Ellen of North East, MD; six grandchildren, Kate, Jesse, Anna, Grace, Holly, and Sabrina; three great grandchildren, Nolan, Lachlan, and Genevieve; sisters-in-law, Shirley Wade of Manitou Springs, CO and Glenda Wade of Williamsburg, VA and five nephews, and four nieces. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William Holbert Van Voorhis, Sr.; her son, John Franklin Van Voorhis; and brothers, Jesse Franklin Wade, Thomas Dell Wade and Richard Barnes Wade. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ft. Martin United Methodist Church, 1876 Fort Martin Rd., Maidsville, WV 26541, WV Caring Hospice, PO Box 760, Arthurdale, WV 26520, or Assisted Living at Evergreen, 3705 Collins Ferry Rd., Morgantown, WV 26505. In keeping with her wishes, cremation arrangements will be provided. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Monday, April 3rd from 4-7 PM and again on Tuesday, April 4th from 10 AM until the time of the memorial service at 11 AM with Pastor Wanda Brosky officiating.
