Obituary of Margaret Ann McCarty

Margaret McCarty, 72, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at her home. She was born October 7, 1950, the daughter of the late F. G. Robertson and Deloris Burnside Robertson. Margaret was a graduate of University High School in 1968. She started a career as a legal secretary/paralegal with several law firms in Morgantown for 17 years. She then went on to work for the Monongalia County Board of Education, retiring in 2021. She is survived by her son, Andrew P. McCarty and her little fur baby, Molly Rose. Also surviving are her sister, Karen Robertson Thorn and her husband, Martin; her brother-in-law, Ronald McCarty and his wife, Gloria along with several nieces. In keeping with her wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., on Sunday, April 23rd from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 4 p.m. with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. A private family committal service will take place at a later time at Pisgah Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, Kenneth P. McCarty and her husband’s parents and brother, Melvin McCarty. While flowers will be invited to be received, memorial donations may be made to Amedysis Hospice MidAtlantic, 5006 MidAtlantic Drive, Morgantown, WV 26508.
