David William Shaffer Sr. 68 of Morgantown WV passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at his home. He was born October 5, 1954 in Terra Alta WV. David is the late son of Junior and Jean (Pomeroy) Shaffer. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather and soon to be great grandfather. He enjoyed playing Texas Hold'em and golf on his computer. David enjoyed having cookouts with his family where he would make his famous Shaffer Burgers on the grill. He was also a retired Truck Driver of 45 years, the longest was working at Jenkins Trucking and Savage Industries. David was a long-standing member of Garrett Bass Master’s where he participated in many tournaments and assisted with the fishing rodeos, and much more. David leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Barbara Shaffer, children: Jennifer Hearn (James) David Shaffer Jr. (Crystal) Karen Napier (Christopher) and Shawnna Shaffer (Jeremy Ice) Grandchildren: Lyndsay, Tyler and Evelynn Moreland, Kylynne and Alexis Hearn, Isaiah, Mariah, Jeremiah and Brantley Shaffer, Grace Napier, Jaxyn and Landyn Ice. As well as expecting a great grandchild, Sawyer Kight. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by one grandchild Micah Shaffer, brother Harry Shaffer and sister Debbie (Shaffer) Johnson. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home. Friends and Family are invited to attend a memorial service at Shady Dell Chapel, Shady Dell Rd. Oakland Md, on Saturday April 22 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Donald Uphole officiating.
