Dr. Neidermeyer was my favorite professor. He was not an easy professor, but he did an excellent job at teaching difficult topics. He used humor very well. As a CPA in Pittsburgh for several years, I was fortunate to cross paths with him several times after my graduation. My sympathies go out to his family.

Ade and Ellen have been very special friends since the 1960's. Thinking of Ade will always bring a smile to me when I remember the Angel Food cake he baked for my birthday. It may have been only an inch high but it was good, greatly appreciated and good for years of laughs. We have lived many miles apart but they have been thought of daily and have remain special to me.
Sending prayers and love to Ellen and her family.

Dr. Neidermeyer was not only the best professor, but he was one of the most caring and wonderful human beings I've known... I was blessed to have him as a professor, albeit frightened at first since I heard he was tough. He was tough, but in the perfect way - to make his students realize their potential. I was married with a young daughter whenever I was getting my Accounting degree. He urged me to never miss class and fall behind, telling me that it was okay if I needed to bring Jennifer to class with me. It didn't happen often, but I did have to take him up on his offer a couple of times, and she quietly sat with her own books. He talked to me about doing an Independent Study, and during my senior year I was able to assist with a research project he was working on. During that semester, he would give Jennifer Kraft caramels for being so good while we worked. I was a December graduate and knowing that I didn't want to travel a lot with a young child, Ade suggested that I pursue on-campus interviews with corporate firms in addition to some public accounting firms. I was successful in securing a job offer from U.S. Steel prior to graduating, and the HR Manager told me that the work I did during my Independent Study and Ade's recommendation was significant in me getting a second interview at their headquarters. I started working for U.S. Steel in January, and my husband was finishing up the Spring semester doing his student teaching. He ended up being the student teacher at Mandy's school, and knowing that I was in Pittsburgh and Michael was in Morgantown, Dr. Neidermeyer invited Michael to come to dinner one night at their home. Thankfully, Ade and I kept in touch throughout the years and whenever our youngest daughter, Jessica, attended WVU, she was blessed to have Presha as her instructor (and hands down she was Jessica's favorite professor.) Jessica went to South Africa with a group of students led by Presha, and on that trip she got to spend a couple of days with Ade and Ellen, too. To say that Dr. Neidermeyer had a profound affect on me and my whole family is an understatement. I am deeply saddened for his family and friends, but I'm forever grateful that our paths crossed.

I am so saddened to hear of Dr. Neidermeyer's passing and send my deepest condolences to his family. I feel grateful to have known him. I once interviewed him for a feature story for a College publication. I recall not wanting our interview to end, because I was so inspired and enthralled by his story and advice that I'd have liked to talk all day. He also provided seminars on personal finance to WVU employees, which I consider foundational to my approach to saving and budget management to this day. He made an impression on me - that West Virginians can excel at the highest levels, the vital importance of making a personal connection with others (especially with students), and embodied several traits like humor, humility, kindness, superior work ethic, etc. that can be hard to find in a person- especially all at once. After his retirement, I've had the privilege of seeing his continued support of students through various generous scholarships. I deeply admire his lifelong commitment to investing in future leaders through his teaching and philanthropy. He struck me as the kind of person who wants to leave things better than they found them, and I include myself among the countless individuals who are better off because of his influence.

Dr. Neidermeyer was an outstanding teacher and a wonderful person. He was my favorite professor while I was at WVU. He had high expectations for his students. I knew that I had to be prepared for his classes because if he sensed that the class hadn’t completed the assignment, without a doubt, there was a pop quiz coming. I enjoyed his classes and always checked to see if he was available when signing up for another accounting class.
I stayed in touch with Dr. Neidermeyer over the years. He was always there with a congratulatory message during the celebratory occasions and words of encouragement during life’s challenging times. He was there to welcome additional members of my family to WVU and was interested in the career paths that they chose. I will miss his annual Christmas card, which in recent years, included a message about me retiring and leaving behind the hustle and bustle of Alexandria, VA to return to the beautiful mountains of our beloved West Virginia.
I am struggling to grasp the fact that he is gone but very grateful to have known him for the time that I did. He was an extraordinary man.
My deepest heartfelt sympathy to the Neidermeyer family.

Q: What will you miss most about Adolph?
A: Dr. Neidermeyer was by far my best professor ever. He was committed to his craft and every student was important. No student was ever safe showing up unprepared. Doc could sniff that out and immediately call on you. The last thing you wanted was to be ill prepared for his course. Even 25 years after school he would recall last names and events from class! He was an inspirational leader and will NEVER be forgotten. He was a true class act and made everyone feel important. Very sad that he is gone from our world. He was was one of the finest men to walk this earth. Good bless you Ade.

It was an honor to have Ade on our First Exchange Bank board for several years. He not only brought expertise to the board but he was instrumental in developing a culture of excellence. He is the rare individual that, as one goes through life, you aspire to obtain some of their qualities for living. Qualities such as kindness, a sense of humor, sternness when needed, a man who can sit back and listen or, if called for, can put you in your place in a word or two.
It was always pretty cool when some of the state banking examiners came in to do their periodic exams and at least one of them would say "Ade Neidermeyer is a director? I had him in college. He was an awesome teacher!" Needless to say, he was a great spokesman if we had to argue a point with them. They rarely challenged him and more rarely ever won an argument with him.
One of my fondest memories was when we had a retirement dinner for him. We were all giving the typical accolades as well as roasting him a little when I told him that we had a "special" guest in attendance. With the help of Ellen, we had gotten our replacement for Ade and had her secretly come to the dinner. Needless to say, when his daughter Presha, our new director, walked in and was announced as his replacement, you could see the proud beaming of a fathers face light up the whole room!

I had the pleasure of meeting Ade at Mt. Morris where we both picked up Raw Dairy Products and many other items delivered to the “pick-up” point there.
Being one that was taught to be cordial to other people, we began conversing as we waited for the delivery bus. He always had a book to read while he waited.
I could tell there was something very special about him, though I didn’t learn until much later that he was a Professor, and a very well loved and celebrated one at that.
We seemed to have quite a few similar interests, and had many lively, interesting conversations. I believe I took him some homemade jellies at some point (maybe even goodies). I can’t remember, as it’s been several years since I went there,
Imagine my surprise when I got a note/card around Christmastime from the Business Accounting Department at WVU. I smiled when I realized who it was from.. We corresponded several times since I was getting my milk at a different place and didn’t see him anymore.
I was greatly saddened today when my sister asked what the fellows name was I talked to when I got milk. She thought it was him, since it was a different type name. She lives in Morgantown and had seen his obituary. I knew what was next somehow.
I’m sure you will all profoundly miss him. What a bright spot of humor and knowledge he was., down to earth, without a trace of arrogance, unlike so many of his high caliber in the Educational Field..
I am glad I had the privilege to meet him, and in the brief encounters at the drop point, I met a very, very Special Man.
My Deepest Sympathy is with all of you that loved him. I know he will be immensely missed by all that came in contact with him. I know he touched my life, though briefly, and I am sad to learn of his passing.

In sum, I offer my deepest sympathy in honor of a person who touched so many lives for the better. May he rest in eternal peace.

I have known Ade for many years-first as a student and later as a colleague when I joined the WVU College of Business and Economics. They do not come better than this man. I appreciated so many things about him. His commitment to the academy was first He was a stellar faculty member and loved this University. He was an extraordinary mentor and a wonderful colleague. I shall miss hearing him say my name in a greeting-“Well Ms. Mancini. How are we today?”

He was one of the best teachers I’ve ever had at any level. He could not only make a subject like accounting fun… but he would give personal financial tips to his students that most people don’t learn util they’re much older.
He will be missed.
