Dear Estelle, Linda and Marie, I have very fond memories of Tom and all of you. I was his graduate assistant, Estelle's student teacher in SLD, and I stayed a week with the girls while Tom and Estelle were at a conference. He was a wonderful mentor, as was Estelle!
Fondly,
Christie Wildman Warnick

Although Laura knew Estelle professionally, Estelle hired Laura to teach the gifted students in Monongalia County, we both met Tom (no one called him Thomas) at the Beau Monde Dance Club where Tom held court as the “life of every party” at every one of the club’s formal dance parties.
Always impeccably dressed, Tom would warmly great us and then proceed to demonstrate how to perform each dance with flare and panache. It was like being in the presence of a somewhat shorter Fred Astaire attired in a white tuxedo jacket instead of black tails. He always cruised the room looking for those he hadn’t welcomed and making sure that no woman would need to sit out a dance because her escort refused to dance.
In his later years, when Tom got interested in Zumba where he could exercise and dance it was a shock to see him in shorts with a sweat band around his head. He still managed to look well dressed in his Zumba outfit and, of course, when the instructor asked for a volunteer to help her on the stage, Tom was right there.
Although his stroke slowed him down, it didn’t extinguish his blazing personality. Every time we would meet Tom and Estelle, he always had a typical Tom warm enthusiastic greeting for us.
We will miss Tom, but still see an image of him “dressed to the nines” in his white tuxedo jacket with his broad smile reaching out for a handshake and a hug.
Love and condolences. May his memory be a blessing.
Laura & Richard Cohen

From the first time I met Dr. Lombardi, I knew this man had the knowledge to make completing my Masters in Learning Disabilities at WVU just what I needed. We remained colleagues and friends after I became a teacher. He and his wife, Dr. Estelle Lombardi, were great supporters when I was later president of WVCEC. They both were always knowledgeable in all areas of special education. Dr. Lombardi will be remembered as a pioneer in and engineer of the Learning Disabilities program in WV. He molded many of us.

Tom was well loved at the IOOB international Club of which he was a member. Always having a joke to tell and of course his presentations on special needs were heart warming.
Goodbye Tom from all of us at the OB’s in Cocoa Beach.
Anthony and all the members.

Anyone who knew Tom knew he was special. He was my closest cousin growing up and so I have precious memories to keep. I simply loved his sense of humor. I can hear him laughing now. I already miss him. My thoughts are with Stel and family.

The world has lost a funny and loving soul in Thomas, who brought laughter to every room he entered. As dearest friends, we share unforgettable memories of the places we went together with Tom and Estelle. The warmth of his friendships touched so many lives, which made nowhere feel like a stranger's place. Now in heaven's embrace, we are comforted knowing that soon we'll meet again and be reunited with our cherished friend, Tom.
