The DC legal community has lost a dedicated defense attorney and an outstanding jurist. Diane and I represented co-defendants over the years on numerous occasions in both Superior Court and Federal Court. Diane always strenuously and vigorously represented her clients and left no stone unturned to protect her clients rights and to hold the government to their burden of proof. She was an inspiration to all attorneys and particularly to women attorneys striving to establish a private practice in a male dominated profession. She was a trailblazer and role model for all such young attorneys.
Diane was a law clerk to Judge Tim Murphy of the Superior Court in the beginning of her legal career. It was so appropriate that Diane was selected to be a Magistrate Judge in the Superior Court. On the bench Diane displayed concern for all litigants who appeared in her courtroom and treated everyone with dignity and respect.
I send my deepest condolences to Diane’s family and assure them that her spirit is embedded in the walls of the Superior Court. It was a privilege to have Diane as a friend and colleague.
