Ray Summers, Jr., 91, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023. He was born January 19, 1932, son of the late Ray Edison and Josie Eleanor (Dalton) Summers. Ray started his work history at Morgantown Glass Company followed by Sterling Faucet. Next, he worked at CONSOL Coal Industries at Humphrey Mine. After a brief layoff, he worked for Fowler Construction and West Virginia University. He then returned to work for CONSOL until he contracted Guillain-Barre Syndrome and became permanently disabled at the age of 37. However, his illness didn't completely slow him down. He enjoyed the outdoors by planting and harvesting a modest size garden each year, keeping his lawn well-groomed, and planting several flowers around the home with his late wife Audrey, and maintaining the upkeep of his oldest son's Semi. During the summer months, he was busy using his tractor to brush hogg the fields and plow snow in the winter for his neighbors. In Ray's younger years, he traveled and camped with friends and relatives. Furthermore, Ray attended local sings where his late wife Audrey often sang with their son, Nieman and his late wife Kathy. Ray and Audrey were active members of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church on the Kingwood Pike. Ray is survived by his children, Dennis (Marlene) Summers, Nieman Summers, Tracey (Brian) Henderson, granddaughter Madison Henderson, step granddaughter, Lindsey (Nick) Dowling, four brothers Fred (Norma) Summers, Denzil Summers, Dwain "Red" Summers, Blaine (Rhonda) Summers, four sisters, Lois Dalton, llene "Bob" (Roger) Goodwin, Darlene "Sis" (James) Woody, Sandy (Gilbert) Dalton, sister-in-law Shirley Lewis, and several nieces and nephews.
