David was a next door neighbor in Star City, WV. He was a good kid, kind soul and always had a smile for everyone. He has gone to join his Mother, Father and Wife. You will be missed down here. Until we meet again, RIP.

Dave and my brother, Ray Ponceroff (deceased in 2007), were best friends growing up in Star City. They played Little League Baseball together and for about 10 years were inseparable.
Dave was a good man. Always very personable, always happy to see you, and treated everyone with respect.
Hopefully, Dave and Ray are now back on the ball diamond taking batting practice and shagging fly balls.
RIP, Dave.

Dear David and Adam,
I want to send you our deepest sympathy on the loss of your Dad. I have been so blessed to have you as neighbors, and more importantly, friends. I could rely on both your mom and dad to be there for me in times of need, and the good times as well. I always would refer so him as “Mr. Clise,” because I had so much respect for him. He just had a presence in the strength and kindness he always exhibited. I would joke with him, and tell him I didn’t know he lived there for the first 5 years of Bobby and I becoming your neighbors because he worked so much! His work ethic was an inspiration. Since the loss of my dear friend, Roseann, your Dad and I would talk about his absolute heart break. We can have some solace knowing he is with her in heaven now.
With Love,
Lora and Bobby Everhart

Willie Spens, retired Chief of Ventilation, EACC/Peabody and retired MSHA Supervisor
I inspected the Loveridge No. 22 Mine, when Dave was the General Mine Foreman. He ran a first class coal mine, among the best I visited in my 53 year mining career. I spent many a long shift with him, when he worked to upgrade the mine's ventilation system.
His greatest strength was his integrity. He was one of the best ventilation men, that I was ever privileged to work with, and I was quite pleased when CONSOL sent him to assist in ventilating their other operations. He was truly their ventilation expert. I remember on one occasion, when Loveridge was sealed, Dave was sent to another rather challenging mine as General Mine Foreman. When he left to return to reopen Loveridge, the miners at the other mine were upset, because they did not want to lose him. That speaks volumes of the respect that all miners had for Dave.
Please accept my deepest condolences and prayers.
God be with you all.

Dave Clise was a great Mine Foreman and a best friend. He pushed me through the success of my career from a section foreman to a Successor as a Mine Foreman following him at Loveridge #22 mine. He was knowledgeable, caring, and in my sights never had an enemy. The best man, friend, and coal miner I ever had the privilege to know!

We are so sadden to hear of Dave's passing but we know he is united with Roseanne and his Lord. Both were great folks to live beside here in Marion Meadows. May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of them in the coming days and may the Lord comfort you in this time of sorrow.
Your neighbors,

I’m so sorry with the loss of your dad, brother and grandad. I was a care giver for David’s parents. I always enjoyed the relationship David has with his dad. They always would make sure when WVU basketball games were on to make sure each other was watching or listening. David was a very kind and respectful man.

Dave was a great guy and a good friend. We worked together for nearly 20 years with Consolidation Coal Company and Consol Energy. He was well respected by his peers and always looked out for the coal mine employees. We enjoyed many rounds of golf and went to many football and basketball games cheering on the Mountaineers and listening to Country Roads. I will miss our good times. RIP Dave!
