Obituary of Katherine "Kay" Anna Lundstrom

Please share a memory of Katherine "Kay" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Katherine "Kay" Anna Dargan Lundstrom, 96, of Morgantown, passed away peacefully at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Kay was born February 8, 1927 in Queens, NY, the only child of the late Henry and Sophia B. Dargan. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John A. Lundstrom. Kay was Catholic by faith and attended St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. John and Kay retired and moved from Farmingdale, NY to Morgantown, WV in 1985. They loved West Virginia and embraced their retirement years. Kay was a dear friend to many. She formed new friendships at every stage of her life. She was kind, fun, funny, lovely, and truly all things good. She had a way of making everyone feel loved as though they were family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She cherished celebrations, visits, calls, cards, and helping them at a moments notice. Kay is survived by her children, Janet McGowan (John) of Oakdale, NY and Wayne Lundstrom (Wendy) of Bruceton Mills; grandchildren, Kristin McGowan of Middleton, ID, Emily McGowan of Lindenhurst, NY, Dr. Amanda Torsney (Edward) of Buffalo, NY, Dr. Eric Lundstrom of Cincinnati, OH; great grandson, Elliott Wayne Torsney; and a very dear niece, Frances Walk (John) of Santa Maria, CA. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Morgantown Healthcare Center, the Hospice doctors, nurses and staff at Ruby Memorial 7 West, and our family, friends, and neighbors for the prayers, love, food, calls, and texts during this difficult time. Kay was a longtime advocate and contributor to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital and Research. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made St. Jude's at www.stjude.org/give. Friends and family will be received at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 10 AM until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM with Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati, STD as celebrant. A private family committal service will take place at a later time at the WV National Cemetery in Taylor County, WV. Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.hastingsfuneralhome.com.
