Should someone take it upon themself to write a book titled The Marvelous Moms of Morgantown, I’m positive an entire chapter would be dedicated to Bev Burton.
She raised six boys, and she did it with such grace and warmth. I, myself, come from a family of four boys, so I know first hand what that entails. The mountains of clothes, the endless calls for food, the trying times of sibling rivalries and the constant flood of friends and neighborhood buddies that added to the overall chaos. I fall into that last category as it relates to the Burton household. I spent many times at their house and I was always greeted with her friendly smile and more times than not a sincere exchange with her on how my family and I were doing.
There is no doubt in my mind that she and my mother are regaling each other with their stories of what it was like raising all those boys along with their friends. Mrs. Burton will always hold a very dear and special place in my heart in addition to the entire chapter of that book.
