Obituary of Harold James Hamilton
Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harold James Hamilton (Jim), 71, of Morgantown, West Virginia, peacefully passed away on April 21, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, after a difficult battle with cancer.
Jim was born on May 3, 1952, to Harold "Junior" and Pheobe Hamilton. After high school, Jim joined the U.S. Navy and then worked as a civilian after his honorable discharge. Not to be slowed down by retirement, Jim joined the police force when he was forty years old. He was passionate about his work and loved serving his community.
While Jim loved his work, he loved his family even more. Jim married Ann Joy Wood, and they had two children, April Renea (Hamilton) Howze and Eric James Hamilton. His greatest pride was his grandchildren. When he was not having family time or working, Jim loved to play with his dogs, Jo and Chewy, and drink massive amounts of coffee.
Jim was predeceased by his wife, Joy Wood Hamilton; his parents, Phoebe and Harold Hamilton; and his brother, Frank Hamilton (Betty). He is survived by his children, April Hamilton Howze and Eric James Hamilton (Amber), and his grandchildren, Joshua Howze (Abby), Jeffrey Howze, Avah Hamilton, Elias Hamilton, Josephine Hamilton, and Charlotte Hamilton. Jim also leaves his siblings, William Hamilton (Bobbi), John Hamilton (Deniece), Trudy Goff (Larry), and Diane Sanders.
