We met Sue in 2007. She was a valuable asset in our community group that set out to preserve the Laurel Run watershed. She offered sound observations and many suggestions enabling the group to halt or positively modify projects that would have otherwise harmed the stream and its ecoculture. Her picture below shows her speaking in the group's video about our watershed in 2007.
She was always helpful with our "what's that?" questions about birds, insects, and plants. We appreciated her answers offered with a smile - and in a way we could relate to.

Upon getting to know Sue I found her affable, fascinating, and instantly likable. Her naturalist knowledge and captivating stories from the field made her a professional role model. Sue’s conspicuous love for enjoying life with the people she held dear made her a personal inspiration. She will be remembered warmly, and missed.

Sue was married to my cousin Bill and I only got to actually meet her a handful of times. She clearly had a lot of joy and a great sense of humor. I got to know her best through her Christmas letters and loved her creativity with her crafting. Her stained glass pieces were amazing. I could identify with her love of butterflies as my father (her uncle in law) had me collecting butterflies as a kid and they always bring happiness. I look forward to the publication of her paper and will remember her with every butterfly I see.

I had the opportunity to work with Sue on several projects over the years. Managing Forests for Birds, protecting habitat for Threatened and Endangered species at Cooprs Rock State Forest and providing feed back to public comments regarding wildlife and forest management. Sue was a wealth of knowledge, professional and fun. I truly enjoyed working with her and am glad I got to spend time with her in the woods. Sue left her mark on the natural world in a meaningful way and will be missed.
