It's funny how small this big world can be:
Over three dozen years ago, I was a young lady who worked as a hairdresser at a downtown Morgantown place called "Hair Tech". It was located on the corner of Pleasant & High Streets. We had more "walk-ins" than appointments and catered mainly to the college students. One day Olga stopped in for a trim and it was my turn to take a customer. She was a sweet lady and while I was cutting her hair, she started talking about where she lived, family,... the usual chit-chat for customers. Then she told me that her husband had passed away and she broke down, sobbing uncontrollably. Poor soul, she desperately missed him. All I could do was put my arm around her shoulder and let her wail. She regained her composure and I finished cutting and styling her hair. I thought I'd likely never see her again after that.
I had thought WRONG!! About six weeks later, she not only came back, but requested that I take care of her! --What a brave gal she was!! She became one of my "regulars", making appointments so she could be sure to see me. She kinda tried to sell me a house--I think it was her mother's, maybe mother-in-law, not for sure. It was located across the road from her house. Another selling point was that the downstairs bathroom had just been installed but used just a few times. She painted some of it, did little things in hopes of making it more appealing to a house hunter.
One thing for sure, she loved her flowers and her gazebo in the yard. I drove by to check it out when she would visit for a haircut and tell me how she had been working on things outside. It hasn't been too many years ago that her flowers made the front page of the local newspaper, the Dominion Post. The funny thing about that was the caption misidentified the type of flowers!! There was a correction in the newspaper the next day --I didn't know if she would've laughed about it or would be upset (surely she had told the person who took the picture what kind of flowers she had).
I never took her up on visiting her at her home--I thought it may not be professional. I was young and didn't know much and I'm sure I missed out on a blessing on that one. She came in for a trim one day and said she left the house in a mess to come see me. She was doing some DEEP cleaning. She had emptied the china cabinet, washed the cabinet and its contents, and didn't feel like putting everything back in its place right then! I think she let it stand that way, dishes stacked on the dining room table, for a couple of days. She also shampooed her carpet. I am sure everything was always as neat as a pin at her house. Her work ethic surely contributed to her long life.
A couple, maybe few years, ago I took my mother to an eye appointment at Regional Eye Associates in Morgantown and Olga walked into the waiting room! I forget how old she said she was, but she seemed to be happy and satisfied with herself. Our chat had just started when one of us were called upon to see the doctor. Although she didn't immediately recognize me when she walked in, when I re-introduced myself, she knew me and was just so lovely to me again/still.
Of all of the people to cross the doorstep of Hair Tech and end up in MY chair back then to the likelihood of seeing Olga all those years later at the "eye doctor"...it's a small world after all. God is good, God is good all the time
I'm sure your heart is broken today as I'm writing this. Please accept my deep sympathy but I hope these little remembrances will help heal you and your family. I have a feeling she left a little bit of her heart along every step of her journey here on earth and Heaven just got a little sweeter when she came into the arms of Jesus.
Sincerely,
Carol Miller

Olga was so very lovely to me as a young hairdresser and was a hard worker. There's lots of things that I don't remember about working there, but I will always remember the ray of sunshine she was when she sat down in my chair
